Registering as a self-employed cleaner
If your self-employment takings exceed the £1,000 trading allowance in a tax year, register for Self Assessment by 5 October after that tax year ends.
Key dates

| 31 January | Online return and payment deadline |
Example: start trading in June 2026 and you must register by 5 October 2027. You pay income tax and Class 4 National Insurance on your profits.
